Gandhi Biography
Mahatma Gandhi was a very pure and spiritual man. He lived by a code of passive resistance, not harming anyone, but instead taking the hits. At the end of the movie Gandhi, an important quote appears on-screen: "When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it. Always." Gandhi lived out this quote in his life, while he was beaten, but the ones striking him always gave in at the end.
Gandhi followed the quote in many different circumstances. At his first assembly in South Africa, he attempts to rally his fellow Indians to resist Britain's rule and burn their passes, symbolizing their freedom. As a result, Gandhi was beaten and thrown in jail. He tries many times, and soon the British give up and release Africa from its bondage. Another example is Britain's tax on salt in India. Indians worked hard in the salt mines, and the British put a tax on salt for more income. The Indians thought they had a right to one of their basic necessities. In resistance, Gandhi organized a march to the Indian sea to obtain salt, which was rightfully theirs. When they protested, though, the British imprisoned Gandhi and his followers and closed the salt mines. More of his followers emerged, and the British had no choice but to release Gandhi and the salt tax. Because of Gandhi's passive resistance, he forced huge powers to be powerless in comparison to him.
Gandhi was a very peaceful man and did not believe in violence what-so-ever. His philosophy of passive resistance has been used all over the world, and has impacted the way people obtain their freedom. Martin Luther King Jr. followed the same resistance as Gandhi and took a huge leap toward black freedom from segregation. Gandhi's impact on the world is huge, and his philosophy is always true. "Think of it. Always."

Baseball and Football
In the U.S., baseball is known as the national sport, while football is the most popular. Both sports are mainly played nationally, and they have their own championships: a big football competition is the Super Bowl, and a major baseball tournament is the World Series. These four sports are related as both countries have a national sport, though another sport takes the place as most popular. The American equivalent to field hockey is baseball, and that of cricket is football.
